Emma B. Congo, 80, lifelong resident, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011 at the East Liverpool City Hospital after a brief bout with cancer.
Emma was born on Feb. 4, 1931 in Lawrenceville section of Chester and was a daughter of the late William R. and Bessie Pugh Wright.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Marion Congo, whom she married on June 11, 1949, three sons, Larry Congo of Toronto, Carl (Susan) Congo of East Liverpool, and Bruce Congo of New Manchester; three daughters, Joyce (Durand)
Champney of Columbiana, Jackie (Bill) Hess of East Liverpool, and Betty Jo (Kelly) Bruce of Gotha, FL; 17 grandchildren; and 28 great grandchildren.
A member of the Congo Church of the Nazarene, Emma had served as an assistant Sunday School Teacher.
She was preceded in death by a brother, William Wright and sisters, Bernice
Springer, Betty Blosser, and Pauline Stiglet.
Rev. Carolyn Hardy conducted funeral services on Monday, May 23, at the Arner Funeral Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Interment followed at the Hookstown Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in Emma’s name to the Relay for Life in care of the Tri-State Federal Credit Union at 127 W. Sixth St., East Liverpool, OH43920.
