Mrs. Whetstone, Teacher Dies

Pioneer instructor in Public School Succumbs at Home in East End Saturday.

Mrs. Effie McKinnon Whetstone, teacher in the Horace Mann Building and one of the oldest instructors in point of service in the East Liverpool schools, died Saturday at midnight at her home at Mulberry and Railroad streets, East End, after 10 days' illness of pneumonia.

Mrs. Whetstone was a daughter of the late George D. and Julia E. McKinnon, her family being pioneers of Columbiana County, She was also a granddaughter of the first white child born in the county. She was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue Methodist church and associate councilor of Purity council No. 7 Daughters of America.

She leaves one daughter, Miss Edna Whetstone; a brother, George E. McKinnon and an aunt, Mrs. Zillah Davidson of East Liverpool

Funeral services will be held in the home Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in charge of Rev. E.R. Reed, pastor of the Methodist Pennsylvania Avenue Methodist church. Burial will be made in Riverview Cemetery.
